Teen Court

Teen Court is a diversion program designed for juvenile offenders to teach them about the justice system and the consequences of their actions before they become part of the traditional justice system. Teen Court is a sentencing hearing for 12-17 year olds who have already admitted guilt in the crime they committed.

Types of cases heard in Teen Court:

  • Shoplifting
  • Battery
  • Truancy
  • Vandalism
  • Curfew Violation
  • Public Intoxication/Minor Consumption
  • Runaway
  • Traffic Violation


Volunteer opportunities are also available for teens and adults. Youth have the opportunity to explore career paths by volunteering to be a Bailiff, Clerk, Jury Foreperson, and with additional training, even a Defense Attorney or Prosecuting Attorney.
